If you have good English and Maths skills and want to get started on the road to become an independent bookkeeper then the Level 1 Award in Bookkeeping is the ideal place to start. The course is suited to small to medium sized business owners who would like to acquire an in-house bookkeeping skills to produce their business accounts to the expected standard, it is also for people returning to work or changing careers who are interested in conducting bookkeeping services for local businesses or anyone who is looking to gain the skills to get into the workplace.

How is it assessed?

This course includes the Introduction to Bookkeeping incorporates the Working Within Bookkeeping and Bookkeeping and Accounts module, these three elements are tested with a single exam, Spreadsheet Software is tested separately.

There are practice assessments included within the course for the first element which are delivered online and computer marked, a pass mark of 75% is required before moving on to the next chapter. Spreadsheet Software has a mock exam which is self-assessed by the student from the model answer provided to you.

On completion of the study material, assessmenst and mock exam the student should move to the AAT practice exams which are available through the AAT website.

This course provides a foundation for further study as a bookkeeper, as well as leading to employment in roles such as a trainee bookkeeper, clerical assistant and finance assistant.
